Dr Deepika Kothari and Ramji Om are producer and director of the film ‘History of Yoga- the path of my ancestors’ by their production house Vishuddhi Films, Mumbai. This is part of a OVBI Google Hangout series as a run up to the International Day of Yoga.For the documentary Film ‘History of Yoga- the path of my ancestors’ they did 6 years of extensive research & travelled 35,000 KM across India, Nepal, Europe & US.

The film takes viewers to 6000 years of History & Philosophy of yoga in just 100 minutes. The story explores the elements of Yoga in Harappa Civilization, Veda, Jainism, Buddhism, Hath-Yogic practices of medieval times & other peripheral doctrines. The film ends in 19th century where modern science acknowledges the potential of yoga in a new light.

In this hangout event we will learn from them about this unknown history of Yoga and also go behind the seen and ask about the process of making films on Indian history and culture.Deepika Kothari, Producer & Co-director of the film, is a Ph.D in Physics. She has to her credit several scientific papers published in International & National Journal. She also writes popular science articles for Newspapers & magazines. Presently she is involved in making research based films on Indian thought with modern understanding.Ramji OM, Writer, cinematographer & Co-Director of the film is an ardent practitioner of Yoga and has done detail study of Indian Philosophy & History. He is presently working as senior civil servant (IRAS) with Indian Railways.
